Take your Dad on a Ridiculous Fishing Tour this Father’s Day!
Ridiculous Fishing: A Tale of Redemption is a $2.99 Billy’s fishing game, where you are Billy. It is indeed an iOS version of Radical Fishing, but quite expanded and optimized to suit smartphone controls. Obviously, as it is Billy’s game, Billy (you) rules supreme.
You start the game by casting the fishing line from the bow of Billy’s boat. And once your hook started traveling downwards, you have to avoid all the fish swimming in the way by turning your screen as if you are driving a car and turning its steering wheel. If a fish gets hit by the hook, the reel will immediately go on pulling up the line. On the way upwards, every fish touched by the hook will be caught and this time too, you have to again turn your screen to make your way for the line for going back to the surface. You have to avoid maximum fish when your line goes down, because that way your line will reach maximum depth and you can catch maximum fish while returning! Once all the fish reach the surface, the fun in the game starts!
Billy flings all the fish high in the air with a single enormous thrust, actually, the higher the better. Once all the fish are in the air, Billy takes out his gun and shoots their gills. To show him which fish to shoot, you just have to tap on the screen. But though Billy is pretty good at shooting, not all the fish are down at the first shot and so, you have to be ready to shoot for multiple times, but you don’t have to worry as Billy has lots of ammo.
The number of firings you will need to bring a fish down depends on the gun’s caliber and the size of the fish. And if the fish is not destroyed with the shot, it will rise still higher in the air. This bouncing of fish is indeed fun and if you wish, you can even bounce it up to the moon! But you actually need to bring maximum fish down. Destroying all the fish before they fall back in the water is essential, because that is the only way of making Billy earn money.
The amount of money Billy gets for each fish depends on the size and species of that fish. To earn maximum at the end of each round of casting and firing, Billy needs to catch maximum fish on the line. And for that the hook must sink to the deepest. In the beginning, it is the length of the line that prevents you from touching the bottom. Each fishing hole Billy turns to has a different depth. Luckily Billy is aware of a place where you can buy some fishing gear, and it is Shack Shoppe.
Shack Shoppe sells all types of gear which you can buy to improve Billy’s performance. You can buy more powerful guns, longer reels, more attractive lures and a range of other innovative hunting technologies, such as oil drums and bowling balls. A good thing about Billy is you have to spend only his money which he has earned from casting and firing; there is no in-app shopping to be done.
With the upgraded gear, you can go deeper and deeper and thus find a wider diversity of fish species. You can unlock more fishing holes on the map by catching more and more fish species and the new holes will bring you still more variety of fish species. And the challenges in each new fishing hole are just like real-life fishing to tackle which you have to buy more and more gear from the Shack Shoppe. So for keep on fishing you need to buy more and more gear and in turn, to buy more gear, you need to do more and more fishing. So, don’t you think that it will amuse your dad?
The soundtrack of the game is by Eirik Suhrke which conjures you at different energy levels during the phases of the game. And the amusing game has something more. Billy has a wooden device, resembling an iPhone which has a lot of information in it, about various fish species. So also, an amusing Twitter-like app, known as ‘Byrdr’ where a chatting goes on between the inhabitants of Billy’s world and they also comment on Billy’s purchases at Shack Shoppe.
So, are you ready to take your dad on a Ridiculous Fishing tour this Father’s Day?
