Gamers enjoy playing video games. They make us relax, have fun and feel excited. Alright, from time to time, we get angry while playing, but only because our skills and techniques need improvement and we see it as just another task. However, there are many myths about video games. So, let’s take a look at some common myths and let’s bust them!

Video games are only for kids? Well, you will hear it from time to time: “You enjoy playing game as you were a little child!” Well, this is hardly a fact, because the most popular video games around the world is, you would not believe it, Solitaire. So, we can agree that it is not really a type of a game that will be played by a testosterone-driven teenager or a playful kid. The fact is, almost 25% of gamers are over 50 years old players.

Video games are only for boys? Well, this is also wrong. The studies show that 99% of teenage boys play video games, but 94% of teenage girls do it, too. The proliferation of games focused on fashion, beauty, fitness, cooking and music made video games more popular amongst girls. Bubagoochi is one of the best virtual baby games for girls available on for iPod, iPhone, PC… An amazing gameplay and graphics and the fact that it has been created by one girl make this game very popular. Again, the myth is busted!

Video games stunt social skills? This myth was maybe the fact few decades ago, but nowadays it is hardly true. Multiple players games are increasingly popular, so almost 60% of gamers play those games with their friends, partners, spouses, coworkers. This teaches us things like rules, team building, team playing and communicating. Therefore, thanks to the popularity of multiple players games, the social skills of young people will not be stunted by video games.
