A new console brings a lot of learning. Nintendo has come up with its first new home console since the 2012 Wii U; it’s Nintendo Switch and it’s a superb piece of kit, with a truly premium feeling that the unfortunately failed Wii U entirely lacked.
But besides playing the new Zelda game, you should know all the tips and tricks with Nintendo Switch. TV Store Online is giving away a Nintendo Switch as a Grand Prize in their competition on 25th April; so, if you get this grand prize, these tips will be useful to you!
1. Have a Micro SD Card
The Switch has 32GB storage as standard and after the operating system, there’s hardly 26GB left for playing games and having screenshots.
Sadly, there are games announced already that will fully occupy your storage. The Switch will in fact accept microSD cards so large which they aren’t really available to purchase yet, but you will want to push the 256GB mark if possible.
It’s available for a reasonable price; still you shop around. Keep in mind that the microSD slot is hidden on the back of the console, under the kick-stand.
2. Make Your Nintendo Account Ready
Instead of losing out the very special username to somebody else, hurry up to register your Nintendo Online Service ID at once.
Earlier, Nintendo gave rewards for online purchases and there are chances that this might happen with Switch too. Anyway, if you want to play online, you will want a very special username; so, don’t lag behind to register before someone else grabs it.
3. Screenshots and Memes
Switch is a modern console, and so, enables you to take screenshots with a very handy button on the left Joycon. It’s indeed the quickest at doing this of all current generation gaming consoles and has something a bit special too.

You have the ability to arrange your screenshots in the “album” section. You can also delete bad ones and, of course, add text to them too. Planning to create the next hit meme straight from your Switch? No problem, you can do that. Post these shots on your social media accounts too and be the next trending topic.
4. Reduce Brightness
If you want to reduce brightness, hold the “home” button and you will get a few options. You can put the console from here into rest mode or airplane mode, and you can also adjust brightness on the fly.
5. A Little Easter Egg
Were you aware that there is a UI Easter Egg in handheld mode? Yes, there is! When you hit a same button thrice, you unlock the console from rest mode. Most users will go hitting the A button, trying to get back sooner desperately; however, if you try with buttons of your choice, you can hear a different sound on every tap. Try clicking the left stick in or tapping the shoulder triggers thrice.
6. Create Multiple Profiles
Wish to play a multiplayer? You can do that because 1-2-Switch is designed around that sort of Nintendo-fun!
Go to the System Settings, then to “User” and then click “Add New User”. Use any mode for this; all you need to do is to choose a player icon (any fun picture that you would like to represent the player) and a name. And you’re done! You can even link the user later to a Nintendo ID.
7. Close a Game Before Removing the Card
You may think this as a no-brainer but you may forget to do that. So, remember to close a game down before removing the card. If you put in another game without closing the previous game, you will lose your progress in your previous game.
So, win a Nintendo Switch in the above-mentioned competition and follow the tips to make the most of your amazing prize.
