buy neocash cardsIt’s interesting to know about Unconverted Neopets, what it means and how to identify if your pet is an UC or not, and how to take care of your little neopet once you buy neocash cards, and buy neopets. Here you’ll find a few interesting bits of information.

1. What’s the Meaning of Unconverted?

The Neopets Team brought about a complete renewal of the site on 27th Apr. 2007 under which there was a major change in the art style of all neopets. This change introduced wearables to customize one’s neopets with various clothes and accessories. The basic body shape of each species was changed so that the species could wear the same clothes as their color variation. However, due to this, the neopets having clear variations because of their color, such as Faerie, Desert, Darigan etc. undergo a drastic change in their design.

But, several pets that were created already and had colors, were offered the option to retain the old art style; however, unfortunately, they can’t wear clothes. These neopets with the old art style were known as ‘unconverted’, whereas those which automatically changed or decided to change were known as ‘converted’.

2. Difference between Converted and Unconverted

The first difference you can notice is the art style of the pet. You may remember which UCs exist and recognize them while they are moving around. However, if you’re new, you can go through the catalogue of UCs on NeoGoods.net where you can even buy unconverted neopets.

Next point is unconverteds cannot wear clothes and accessories. They can dress only with trinkets, backgrounds, sound effects or anything that doesn’t need to be putted over them. Converteds on the other hand can wear any wearables.

Another major point to identify unconverteds is that their Reference Page has a small disclaimer in the Notices section that permits you to convert it if you wish, but if you don’t it just remains a sign of the pet belonging to the old art style.

3. Will Transferring or Pounding an UC Pet Auto Convert it?

No. UC Neo pets don’t convert while being transferred or in the pound. They can be converted only by the owner by clicking on the link given on the Quick Reference page or making any color/species changes that has been described.

4. Will an UC Pet be Converted upon Painting?

Yes, an unconverted pet will automatically get converted with any changes in color or species. This includes using morphing portions, paint brushes, lab ray and transmogrification potions. Right now there is no method available to create UC Neopets and TNT has announced that they have no plans in the near future to introduce such a method.

5. Can a Change in the Gender of an UC Royal Pet Convert it, Even if Both the Royal Genders Belong to the Unconverted Version?

If a potion or fight the lab ray scientist is used to change the pet’s gender, the pet won’t be converted, although when Royal pets get their genders changed in these ways don’t change their artwork to that of the other gender, but will stay the UC Royal like before but with a different gender. There is no method available to change an Unconverted to another Unconverted by changing gender.

However, if the pet is ZAPPED in the Secret Laboratory, and it changes gender, it will get converted. If an unconverted royal is zapped to a gender change, it will change in its looks, which means that it goes automatically to the converted pose. An unconverted version of the other gender is not available because the whole look of the pet changes, making it automatically a converted version of the pet.

So, make sure you keep your UCs safe from zapping or species/color changes, so that you can enjoy them for years to come.
