Upcoming Online Strategy Games of 2013
Gamers fond of online strategy games should rejoice as 2013 is an year, when an extensive lineup of upcoming games of their favorite style is in the pipeline. Though it is not possible to list all of them in this short article, this is an effort to include some of them which are PC-exclusive, so that we can at least include many of them in a single criterion. Please remember that their releasing dates may be even postponed to year 2014, but we can only anticipate that they are launched at the given dates!
Total War: Rome II is being developed by The Creative Assembly and is to be released by Sega. You can try your hand at this game probably in October 2013. It is the successor of Rome: Total War of 2004. It is set in Roman Republic in classical antiquity and players will have a chance to turn the Republic into an Empire, if they choose.
Company of Heroes 2 is under development by Relic Entertainment and published by Sega. It is the successor of Company of Heroes of 2006. It is scheduled to release on 25th June 2013. It will present the setting of World War II, but will highlight the Eastern Front. Soviet Red Army will be a new faction which will take players on varying stages of the Eastern Front operation.
Europa Universalis IV is being developed by Paradox Development Studio and is to be released by Paradox Interactive. It will come on gamers’ PCs somewhere around the second-last quarter of 2013. It is based on the storyline beginning on 11th November 1444 and ending in the late 18th century.
StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void is under development expansion pack of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. It is being developed and will be published by Blizzard Entertainment anytime in 2013. It will focus on Zeratul, its main character. The player is to work with various Protoss tribes to get help from them to gain allies and take the plot further, but will make them foes of other tribes.
Total War: Arena is under development by The Creative Assembly according to whom it will be the first title in the lineup which has a free-to-play model. The game will focus fully on online multiplayer, combining features of Multiplayer online battle arena and Real-time strategy. The game is expected to hit internet anytime in 2013.
Stronghold Crusader 2, the sequel to Stronghold: Crusader of 2002, is being developed by Firefly Studios and is scheduled to release in the last quarter of 2013 by themselves. The game has raised expectations of gamers because of its 3D graphics engine. However, it will have all the features of its 2D prequel, along with new ones, like new beefed up AI opponents, the cruel Slave Driver, dynamic on-map events such as Locust Swarm and so on.
Castle Story is being developed by Sauropod Studio. Its prototype was made available on 10th March 2013 and the game will hit the web anytime during the year. The player will control workers named “Bricktrons” which can be used to collect resources, construct castles and fight in the wars. The final aim is to build a castle which should resist attacks by creatures and fellow players successfully. The locations of the game are huge floating islands.
There are several other games in the pipeline of 2013 and gamers are eagerly waiting for them, so that they can quench the thirst of trying their brilliance with newer and harder ways.
