When is It Alright to Block Your Computer from Gaming Sites?
We love playing games, of course. However, it’s sometimes better to block the computer from gaming sites, either to improve productivity or to control the time your kids spend playing games online. Let’s talk about the reasons to do this, how to do it and what to do if you still want to play your favorite unblocked games from time to time without unblocking your computer from other gaming sites.
I’m a freelancer and I always strive to improve my productivity. The reason is simply; for me, it’s the only way to increase my earnings. Part of my business time includes non-income-related tasks, for instance social networking, marketing for potential clients etc. I used to procrastinate over projects, while on the other hand I played my favorite online games (for hours!). That’s when I realized I should help myself by blocking my business computer from gaming sites. On a computer I use for personal purposes, I still play games, of course. (Yes, although I could, theoretically do both on one gadget, I’ve decided to separate them in order to make the most of my workday.)
My best friend’s daughter is a lovely, creative and intelligent girl, but she used to play video games for several hours a day. Although nobody thinks kids shouldn’t play video games, I think that it made this girl gain some weight. So, my friend has decided to control her daughter’s access to video games by blocking various gaming sites. The process is reversible, so she lets her play for an hour by unblocking these sites and when the time’s up she blocks the computer again. For now, this works; the girl still plays her favorite games, but she doesn’t overdo it.
Finally, there are websites where you can play flash games (unblocked games 66 or unblocked games 77) that are blocked on your (school or work) computer. These websites are very convenient since they allow you to break a rule (from time to time) without blocking and unblocking your computer from certain gaming sites back and forth.
