World of Tanks is an extremely popular shooter where you get a chance to drive a tank and shoot other tanks, while trying to protect yourself from getting shot by the other tanks. While this may seem simple, it actually isn’t, at least not for a beginner. There are many small things you can remember and they can make a great difference to your game. Here are a few.
Well, this year is a special one for the game because it marks World of Tanks’ tenth birthday! Developer of the game, Wargaming, celebrated this very special occasion with a four-month event that contained various exciting thematic activities, missions and throwbacks. What’s more, a big finale event was organized in August. If you participated in the celebration, that’s well and good. But if you haven’t, don’t get disheartened – the game still has a lot of fun for you.
1. Armor
All tanks have armor. Tanks without armor are jokingly called a car. What’s important is that you should remember this while shooting at them. An example of how armor is laid out is 80/55/55 which means front/sides/back. Now if you fire a shell with 70mm standard penetration, it will damage only the sides and back, but not the front.
Another important thing you should remember is the angle of attack. Ideally you should attack perpendicularly to the tank part you‘re firing. If the angle is too wide, you are in risk of shell rebounding off without doing any damage.
2. Where to Shoot
Like most games, you must aim ahead of a mobile target. Since shells take time to reach their target, the further your enemy is from you, the larger the gap you must leave. You can make use of the auto-aim in close combat. It lets you focus on your own driving which enables you further to avoid being shot in pieces. Although it’s not as precise as normal firing, it’s useful.
3. Modules
The final point you should remember is about modules. There are five types of modules: turret, gun, suspension, radio and engine. You can upgrade all these and thereby get your performance improved. The turret houses the main gun and often also some crew. It has armor and makes your tank stronger. The gun will improve your tank’s overall firepower. The suspension affects speed and load limit. The radio enables you to exchange intel with other teammates, whereas the engine determines your top speed and acceleration.
Hopefully these tips will make your game more fun. All the best!
