Take the enemy aside and go cannibal! This is the tagline of Terra Tech by Payload Studios. Is there anything more fun than the concept of taking the enemy aside and using whatever left to win over their fellows? The game in which you are allowed to do this without a clear prison sentence is Terra Tech.
Terra Tech is the brand new game to control the power of blocks. It adopts a basic set of rules – take one black, attach it to the other and go on doing it till you build something great. But don’t worry, the game has a lot more than this.
Terra Tech concerns the most with creating vehicles and then using them to mine resources from the far-off places in the space and ship them back to make some quick cash.
However, despite mainly being a vehicle-building title, the game has a unique organic feel, that comes through a process of developing a machine through a “survival of the fittest” rule, which feels like an evolution of vehicles. The Payload Studios game designer Kris Skellorn says that the thought of exploring a place in a self-built vehicle and winning over enemies to cannibalize their parts was something they had kicking around for some time prior to starting working properly on Terra Tech. They wanted to exhibit and stress test the core mechanics of creating and combating; therefore there is a continuous “build-combat-rebuild” cycle which feels like evolutionary.
The entire game experience will be slow-paced and feature more resource management and exploration. As it goes on, you will come to know that you have to design many different vehicles to allow you to face the various challenges that the world will throw at you and that evolution takes in very strange directions.
A large part of Terra Tech is sharing ideas about vehicles with other players. So, in the process, many bizarre vehicles are made by players like break-dancing diggers, giant mecha robots, enormous flying brick planes, upside-down crawlers, diplodocus racers, rocket powered insects, tri-planes and gigantic hovering platforms. The developers constantly talk to the players to check what they have been creating. They set weekly challenges to the community and are always amazed by the crazy contraptions that come up.
So, Terra Tech is real fun for those who love to construct vehicles and there is also the fun of combating in the game. So, the game has a lot for constructers as well as destructors, and thus offers great fun to players of every type.
